As you may know, this year’s Advisor Summit shifted from our typical in-person event in April to an online experience in the wake of COVID-19. The 2020 Envestnet Advisor Summit On-Demand launched in mid-June, and we’ve been excited by the feedback that we’ve received. One of the many benefits of going digital is that we were able to expand the amount of content we offer and continue to add new items on an ongoing basis. You may not have had the time yet to dig through everything, from keynote sessions, to CFP and CIMA-approved sessions for continuing education, to tech demos, and much more.
However, one unfortunate outcome of canceling our in-person event is that we were unable to congratulate our 2020 Essential Advisor Award winners and our 2020 Asset Manager and Strategist of the Year Award winners with the pomp and circumstance that they deserve and typically receive.
For 16 years, Envestnet, in partnership with Investment Advisor magazine, has recognized high-conviction portfolio managers that embody investment management best practices. Our goal is to provide industry intelligence that empowers advisors to identify top-performing managers whose strategies can potentially bring their clients closer to achieving overall financial wellness.
This year’s honorees, selected from our platform of thousands of strategies, represent a range of categories. We hope you’ll take the time to review the list of this year’s winners and reach out with a kind word of congratulations!

To qualify for the awards, a manager must have $200 million in assets, be broadly available on the Envestnet platform, be open to new investors, and the lead manager must have at least a three-year tenure with the firm. In addition, we apply several other qualitative and quantitative metrics, including market upside and downside capture, to determine the best-in-breed performers from hundreds of candidates across the categories. This year’s winners were selected by Chief Investment Strategist, Tim Clift, and Managing Director, Erik Preus, CFA, from Envestnet and Investment Advisor’s Editor-in-Chief, Janet Levaux, and Executive Managing Editor, Ginger Szala.
